Our Chapter President, Karlene Chung-Hogg, along with our South Atlantic Regional Director, Tiffany Moore Russell, Esq., and members from across the state of Florida, recently gathered in Tallahassee for our annual Florida AKA Day at the Capitol. Chapter members Rosalind Osgood and Barbara Sharief were also in attendance, serving in their official capacities as Florida State Senators.

Attendees assisted with stocking the Havana Middle School food pantry as part of our ongoing Childhood Hunger Initiatives: Power in Partnership (CHIPP). Additionally, members participated in The Longest Table: A Movement in collaboration with No Kid Hungry, as well as an Advocacy in Action press conference hosted by Senator Rosalind Osgood.

Black history is woven into our founding, our mission, and our service. As Alpha Kappa Alpha women, we honor our past while boldly shaping the future. Honoring the legacy and celebrating the excellence while continuing the work.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, Zeta Rho Omega Chapter attended the 50th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Celebration on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at New Mount Olive Baptist Church.

On this day, sister Nellie M. Quander along with the other incorporators, recognized that legal incorporation would help ensure the longevity of our illustrious organization. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority was then incorporated on January 29th, 1913, with the “power to organize, institute, and charter subordinate chapters”, and to “promote the intellectual standards and mutual uplift of its members.” Special thanks to our incorporators for keeping our sorority alive — Nellie M. Quander, Norma E. Boyd, Julia E. Brooks, Ethel J. Mowbray, Nellie P. Russell, and Minnie B. Smith.
